Using Green Coffee as an aid for Ketogenic and Low-Carb High-Fat Diets

Green coffee beans are coffee beans that have not yet been roasted.

Green coffee bean extract contains caffeine, a stimulant linked to weight loss. It also boasts high levels of chlorogenic acid, a polyphenol antioxidant that researchers speculate may promote weight loss by reducing the absorption of glucose in the gut, and lowering insulin levels to improve metabolic function. For high blood pressure it might affect blood vessels in a way that blood pressure is reduced.

Early research shows that adults with obesity who take a specific green coffee extract (Svetol, Naturex) five times daily for 8 weeks to 12 weeks, either alone or together with the regular coffee product Coffee Slender (Med-Eq Ltd., Tonsberg, Norway), lose an average of 2.5 to 3.7 kg more weight than people taking a placebo or regular coffee by itself.

There are two types of green coffee which can help in effective weight loss.

1. Green Coffee Extract

With high levels of nutrients and chlorogenic acids, green coffee extract comes in the powdered form or in the form of pills. During the processing of the green coffee extract, most of the chlorogenic acid is extracted.

2. Soluble Green Coffee

Soluble green coffee, which resembles instant green coffee can be made easily. All you will need is some powder and hot water to make soluble green coffee. Soluble green coffee comes in three forms – freeze dried, granulated, and powdered. From these, the freeze-dried variety of coffee is the best. Strong coffee infusions are frozen and then vacuumed to dehydrate the crystals of coffee. You can use this form of soluble green coffee to lose weight.
